January 14, 2013
GoPro showcased how easily users can control its popular line of cameras with an iOS device during CES 2013 last week in Las Vegas. Dom Esposito stopped by GoPro’s booth and chatted with a representative about the feature. Click here if you can’t see the video. Along with full control of all the camera settings, an iOS device can also be used as a remote viewfinder and shot framer. The feature uses a direct Wi-Fi connection between an iOS device and the camera and doesn’t require a router. It has an effective range of around 60 feet. The app is compatible with the HERO 3 white, silver, and black edition cameras along with the Wi-Fi BacPac-enabled HD Hero 2 camera. It is designed for the both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad and can be downloaded in the App Store now. The app also gives users access to the photo of the day and video of the day channels to show off what other camera users are doing. You can snag a camera compatible with the app for as low as $199.99. More information about GoPro and its cameras can be found on the company’s site. [gallery link="file"]
