Is This The iPad 5?
January 25, 2013
This isn’t the first iPad 5 rumor, but it could be the most promising to date. The website iLounge is reporting that they have seen Apple’s next tablet, and state that it will look very different than the previous three models.
According to the report, the iPad 5 will look a lot smaller “than one would guess was possible.”
As such:
... in portrait orientation, picture a 9.7” screen with virtually no left or right bezels, and only enough space above and below the screen to accommodate the mandatory camera and Home Button elements. Beyond that, it’s noticeably thinner, as well, which is to say the the fifth-generation iPad will be smaller in every dimension than its predecessors. As it will have the same chamfered edges and curves, calling it a “stretched iPad mini” is very close to entirely accurate, with the rendering below looking pretty close to what I’ve seen. Most, like iLounge, had previously suggested that the iPad 5 would launch in March. However, more recent reports say otherwise. Most now feel that Apple won't release a new full-sized tablet until this fall. Even iLounge now agrees with this opinion given the many changes that are rumored for the device. As they explain:
As of now, we’re hearing October, give or take a couple of weeks. This part is pure speculation, but we’re guessing that the screens and processors are going to be hard to come by for a while. The photo attached is an iPad 5 rendering by Martin Hajek. As usual, we'll keep you updated.
