Use THX Tune-Up To Make Sure Your TV Is Ready For The Super Bowl

Just in time for the Super Bowl, the new THX tune-up app lets consumers use their iOS device to adjust their TVs, projectors, and speakers to get the best performance for game day. The app can be used with any brand or quality of equipment.
With around 7.5 million viewers expected to buy a new TV set specifically for the Super Bowl, the app will help users get the most enjoyment from an existing or new unit.
The app works by using custom designed video and audio tests to let users check that their equipment settings are optimized in the lighting environment. For example, to adjust color and tint settings, the app uses the iOS device’s camera and a THX-designed color filter to make sure that colors are correct and skin tones don’t look unnatural.
To use the app, you need to connect an iOS device to a audio/video receiver or turn mirroring on with Apple TV. An interactive guide provides step-by-step instructions with audio and text on how to use all of the features. On the video side, the app looks at the aspect ratio, brightness, contrast, color, and tint.
On the audio side, THX tune-up makes sure that speakers are connected to the correct receiver and that they are in phase.
One of the app’s bonus features is the ability to play the ubiquitous THX Deep Note sound at the push of a button.
