Walmart To Offer iPhone 5 On Straight Talk's No-Contract Unlimited Plans
January 9, 2013
Starting on Friday, Jan. 11, Walmart will be offering the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 on a no-contract unlimited talk, text, and data plan provided by Straight Talk.
A mobile virtual network operator that basically piggybacks on AT&T's services, Straight Talk is the largest no-contract cellphone provider in the U.S.
Its no-contract plan is said to enable customers to save as much as $950 a year in contrast to conventional contract plans with similar unlimited services.
Straight Talk's iPhone offers will be accessible in more than 2,000 Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com. The 16 GB iPhone 5 will be available in black or white for $649, while the 8 GB iPhone 4 will be available in black or white for $449.
Wallmart will also offer a special financing option for the phones. Under this option, any available iPhone model may be paid for with a Walmart Credit Card for $25 a month over a certain installment period.
Apart from Straight Talk's $45 no-contract plan, a $60 no-contract plan that also provides unlimited international calling is also available.
On account of a joint venture program between the two companies, Straight Talk is currently exclusive to Walmart.
