After months of anticipation, the winners of the fifth annual Best App Ever awards were announced yesterday. Telltale's wonderful episodic adventure series, Walking Dead: The Game, took home the coveted Best App Ever award, with Evernote and Minecraft rounding out the top three. AppAdvice also had a horse in the race, our very own AppsGoneFree app, which was nominated for an award in the Best App Bargain category. Just like last year, the competition was fierce, but this time we came out on top! AppsGoneFree went up against the likes of Skype, WhatsApp Messenger, Flipboard, Pulse, and a handful of other stellar apps and ended up scoring the win. How you ask? Because of all of our absolutely wonderful readers that voted for us! The same readers that have helped spread the word of AppsGoneFree through social media, forum posts, blog posts, and good old word of mouth. The same readers that have helped us achieve a stellar five-star rating in the App Store. You all played a part in this win and we couldn’t possibly be more proud. Now, before the music starts playing and we get ushered off this virtual stage, we want to thank the team that put together the Best App Ever awards. They did a fantastic job as always. Make sure to check out the winners, runner-ups, and honorable mentions from all of the other categories as well, because you just might discover a great new app for your favorite iDevice. We also want to thank our hard working team of international writers, our own developers, and all of the developers whose apps we've featured over the years. Thanks again to everyone who voted and helped us win our very first Best App Ever award!
