Hulu is fast becoming the new leader in online streaming entertainment. The company recently announced new original programming and ever since the Hulu Plus app launched on Apple TV, it has become the place to watch current episodes of television shows, while Netflix maintains the movie dominance.
Today, the company launched an update to the iPad app for the Hulu Plus that now secures your little one into the Kids Zone. You won’t have to worry anymore about your toddler accidentally watching episodes of “The Vampire Diaries.”
To activate “Kids Lock” users tap on the “Kids” tab at the middle of the screen. When the children’s content pops up, there is a lock icon in the upper right corner. Tap that and you’ll enable Kids Lock. While locked in place, the only viewable content is children’s shows. There isn’t even any advertising within this section.
To exit out of the Kids Zone, users must enter their password, so make sure you haven’t forgotten it before you lock yourself out and have to wait for a password reset before you can access the rest of Hulu Plus again.
Version 2.7 also includes social network sharing through Facebook and Twitter so you can let the world know what you are watching. Hulu Plus now includes a 10-second rewind in the player window and supports on-screen captions and multiple language subtitles when available.
Hulu Plus is available for the iPhone and iPad and is free. To access shows, you’ll need a Hulu Plus subscription. If you already have the app, you can download version 2.7 by going to the Updates section in your device’s App Store app.
