Macworld/iWorld 2013: Double Robotics iPad Stand Wins Best of Show

February 4, 2013
At this year’s Macworld/iWorld convention, there were a lot of new and innovative products being revealed. The staff at Macworld must have had a hard time deciding who would make the Best of Show list for 2013. Double was one lucky recipient of the coveted award. We stopped by the Double Robotics booth to find out what the hype was about. Double is an iPad stand that you can control remotely from anywhere in the world using the compatible app. Its diminutive footprint allows it to move around in tight quarters without getting in everyone’s way. It is sleek, small, and lightweight so you can ship it just about anywhere and be at your next business meeting without having to leave home. The stand turns your iPad into a robot by mounting it to a stand with wheels. Once connected, download the compatible control app and drive your iPad around the office so you can stay connected without having to be there. The stand has an adjustable height from between 47 and 60 inches and features a kickstand so that your iPad won’t fall over if someone bumps into it. The rechargeable battery lasts up to eight hours with normal use. The entire stand weighs only 15 pounds, so it won’t cost a fortune to ship it to that important investor meeting in Baltimore next month. The Double can be preordered today from the company’s website for $2,000. It is expected to ship within the next few weeks. AppAdvice writer Dom Esposito spoke with Mark from Double Robotics.
