New Living Earth Update Brings iCloud Syncing, Improved Graphics And More

February 12, 2013
Living Earth, the popular world time, alarm clock and weather app for iPhone and iPad, has received another noteworthy update. Listed both in our Best iPhone Weather Apps AppGuide and in our Best iPad Weather Apps AppGuide, Living Earth admittedly offers only the current weather conditions and the forecast for the week. But what it lacks in weather-related features, it makes up for in visual appeal. Living Earth lets you see and play with a virtual globular representation of the "living earth," with areas bathed in light or dark depending on whether it's currently day or night in those areas. As it happens, this representation, particularly its night segment, has just been improved through Living Earth's new update. The update brings the latest planet imagery from NASA Earth Observatory. It also brings improved night cloud rendering. On a more functional level, the latest update to Living Earth adds the ability to sync cities between devices via iCloud. You can enable this feature under Edit Cities in Settings. Note that this feature is already on its way toward the Living Earth app for Mac. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.1 or later, the newly updated Living Earth is available in the App Store for $1.99. Also included in the new version of the app are support for multiple alarms, improved design elements on iPad, and some bug fixes. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
