Imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery. Until it bites you where it hurts, of course. One of Apple's most enjoyable ads in recent months is one that ran soon after the iPhone 5 debuted last fall. Entitled “Cheese,” the ad highlighted the handset's panoramic camera mode, which also arrived on the iPhone 4S courtesy of iOS 6. Here is the ad: A new LG ad pays homage to “Cheese,” but with a new twist. For the first few seconds, the ad for the Opitmus G Pro looks like an exact copy of Apple’s own right down to the cute kids, and quirky soundtrack. However, take a closer look: As you can see, LG doesn’t just copy Apple’s ad, it expands upon it. In doing so, it points out a feature not available on Apple handsets called Photo Sphere. Launched by Google in 2012, Photo Sphere offers users the ability to continue taking panoramic photographs beyond the horizontal plane. The ad works, in my humble opinion. What say you?
