After what seemed like a very long wait, more third-party manufacturers are beginning to produce official Lightning-compatible accessories for iOS devices. Scosche joined the fray today announcing a slate of new chargers and the first official retractable Lightning cable.
The strikeBASE wall charger features a 3-foot cable and flush, folding wall prongs. The 5W model, which retails for $29.99 will charge the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, and new iPod nano as quickly as possible. A $34.99 12W version, the first from a third-party manufacturer, can juice up the fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini even faster.
And the strikeDRIVE is also the industry’s first 12W car charger for Lightning-compatible devices. Sporting a 3-foot coiled cable and a low-profile design, it will retail for $29.99. The 5W version is $24.99.
I’m most excited about the retractable strikeLINE pro that extends up to 3 feet. While traveling, I enjoyed the convenience of a retractable solution, and I’m glad to see there is finally a Lightning-compatible version. The pictured strikeLINE pro will cost $24.99.
All of the accessories can be ordered now directly through Scosche’s site. They will also be available to purchase at Apple Stores, AT&T Stores, Wal-Mart, Staples, and Fry’s shortly.
