Today's Best Apps: AE Skee Ball, Save Your Bacon And Fortune Balls

The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday.

Fortune Balls by Captive Games (Free, 13.7 MB): The simplistic fun of the popular Japanese arcade game Pachinko comes to iOS in a morphed form that works perfectly for on-the-go play. In this variation, the player drops the balls from any point at the top of the screen with a tap and then just needs to tilt their iDevice to maneuver the small spheres. The objective is to keep the balls in play, i.e., bouncing off the circular bumpers, as long as possible. The game includes 12 boards, each designed upon the Chinese zodiac symbols, and local high score tracking.

AE Skee Ball by AE Mobile Inc. (Free, 31.9 MB): Have a wonderfully nostalgic time with this digital recreation of the classic bowling-like arcade game. Using your finger as a virtual arm, swipe the screen to roll the ball up the ramp and, hopefully, into a high point hole. The game features realistic 3-D graphics and physics as well as a token play and ticket redemption system that awards based on score. Each play requires two tokens. You're provided 200 tokens initially, but will earn tickets to be traded in for more tokens. The app does contain an ad banner.

Save Your Bacon by Tractus, LLC ($0.99, 16.4 MB): This wacky platformer stars a porky pig that's doing all he can from becoming a meal item. In each level, you'll take control of the desperate animal as he runs across a conveyor belt with the butcher closely behind. Unfortunately, outrunning the axe wielding man isn't going to remain easy. However, when times get tough this unexpectedly swift swine is able to improvise, such as using a chicken to fly over gaps in the conveyor belts. The game features cartoon-style Retina quality graphics, more than 70 levels, and iCloud integration.
