Today's Best Apps: Flubby World, MatrixCAM, LevitOn Racers HD And More

February 5, 2013
The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday. iPhone:

MatrixCAM for ASCII Art by semix2 (Free, 4.4 MB): Inspired by the hit sci-fi action movie The Matrix, this entertaining photo and video transformation app allows you to see the world in its purely digital form. In other words, imagery is constructed of just letters, numbers, and other characters. The app includes four ASCII artwork options, including the iconic Matrix green ad black, as well as adjustments for the number of lines, font boldness, and character output. Converted photos and videos can be exported to the iOS camera roll or shared via email, Twitter or Facebook.

Unblock Board Pro by Fino Soft Inc. (Free, 7.3 MB): Give your mind a well needed workout by solving 300 stimulating sliding block puzzles. Half of them will be performed calmly and casually during Relax Mode with the remainder pushing your neurons to the limit competing against others via Game Center in the time-sensitive Challenge Mode. The game does contain an ad banner.

Universal:

Flubby World by Kechong Nguyen ($0.99, 39.4 MB): Help Flubby, "a green blob of cuteness," collect stars and explore the wonderful world around him in this whacky and adorable platformer. You'll be using a line drawing slingshot-style of control to strategically shoot Flubby over and around obstacles to collect the stars as quickly as possible. The game features beautiful 3-D graphics, three stages, 30 levels, and Game Center integration.

What's the Word? 4 Pics 1 Word by LOTUM GmbH (Free, 32.0 MB): Have some casual and family-friendly fun by yourself or in a group setting with this visually-based word guessing game. After being provided four photos, you'll need to determine the word that links them using the bank of letters provided at the bottom. Guess as many as you can in a seemingly endless gameplay.

iPad:

Iron City Rampage by Josh Rosenberg (Free, 78.4 MB): In what appears to be an obvious clone of Jetpack Joyride, you take the role of Bugsy Capone as he makes his way down an endless street collecting coins and power-ups while using a Tommy gun to propel over stacks of TNT crates. Unlike that of which it was inspired by, this game isn't about scoring or competing. Instead, the intent is to simply enjoy the style of gameplay, the various characters, and slight twists, such as a helicopter shark named Citizen Chomps.

Unblock Board HD by Fino Soft Inc. (Free, 19.1 MB): Give your mind a well needed workout by solving 300 stimulating sliding block puzzles. Half of them will be performed calmly and casually during Relax Mode with the remainder pushing your neurons to the limit competing against others via Game Center in the time-sensitive Challenge Mode. The game does contain an ad banner.
