Today's Best Apps: Spunk And Moxie, Liquefier, Aeon Command And More
Liquefier by Dataca Corp. ($0.99, 7.0 MB): This tranquil entertainment app turns your iPhone into a viewing pond. At first, everything is calm, however, touch the screen and you'll create beautiful rippling waves. When using the iSight (rear) camera all of your surrounding can appear in the shallow depths. Switch to the FaceTime (front) camera and now it's a reflecting pool. The app supports multitouch and allows manual activation of the LED on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and 5G iPod touch for low light situations.
Street View by FutureTap GmbH ($0.99, 2.2 MB): Now you can access Google Street View on your iPad running iOS 6 without having extremely pixelated visuals. The app allows narrowing in on a location by address, including via your Address Book contacts, or manual pin placement. Once in Street View, you can pan by swiping as well as zoom using taps or two finger pinch and expand gestures. There are performance issues on some devices, especially older generation units, and Street View does exhibit a concave image characteristic.
Aeon Command by Danny Stracener ($2.99, 30.5 MB): Prove you're a skilled leader as you fight for the precious minerals of the Aeon Nebula in this real-time strategy game. The responsibility of command involves determining whether resources are best used on creating scouting ships to gather more resources, fighters to defend the territory and annihilate the enemy, or other vessels, such as repair ships. Your journey will involve an ongoing war in the vigorous campaign as well as single battles against the AI or human opponents. The game features side-scrolling arcade graphics and sounds, 24 campaign missions, three skirmish game types, three AI difficulties, and Game Center integration.
Spunk and Moxie by Tilt Studios ($2.99, 43.8 MB): In this whacky platformer, you play as a green or pink blob of ooze named Spunk and Moxie. Being the result of an experiment gone wrong, these clumps of slime are capable of thought and physical actions, well, just jumping and vocal responses. With these capabilities, the two are going to escape their prison. The road ahead involves going through the warehouse, factory, and lab in 30 fast-paced stages. As you help Spunk or Moxie jump over obstacles and bounce off walls, try to collect all of the gems, but do so quickly as time is also the enemy. The game features one touch control, a mix of 2-D and 3-D graphics, and Game Center integration.
Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin by HappyGiant, LLC ($1.99, 245.6 MB): Hack and slash your way to victory as a great samurai who is not afraid to face those of evil. As you progress through 13 action-packed levels, you will deal with waves of enemies and challenging bosses, 50 types in all, and become even stronger. The game features a virtual joystick and buttons for control, comic book-style graphics and story presentation, and Game Center integration.
