Are you planning on ditching your iPhone in favor of a new Android-powered Sony Xperia device? The correct answer is, "Of course not! Who in their right mind would do such a thing?" But assuming that you are (which you definitely aren't), Sony is making your big switch an easy one with its Xperia Transfer software. Part of the Sony PC Companion and Sony Bridge for Mac, Xperia Transfer lets you easily copy selected iPhone content onto your Xperia device. As indicated on the Xperia Transfer webpage, the devices supported by the software are: Xperia V (LT25), Xperia VC, Xperia TX (LT29), Xperia T (LT30), Xperia TL (LT30), Xperia T (LT30), Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, and Xperia ZQ. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. For Xperia Transfer to work properly, you must first back up your iPhone in iTunes. Presumably, the software is programmed to extract the content you want to transfer from your iPhone's backup file. Once your iPhone is backed up, just connect your Xperia device to your computer and select which content types you want to transfer. According to the demo video above, you can transfer the following items: contacts, messages, calendar data, bookmarks, notes, photos, videos, and even iTunes songs. As noted by AppleInsider, Android device maker HTC released last month a similar content transfer tool called Sync Manager. For its part, Sync Manager is aimed at encouraging current iPhone users to switch to the new HTC One device.
