Apple Said To Be Working On Ultra HD Television

March 27, 2013
We’ve heard very little about Apple’s so-called iTV in recent months. However, now the folks at Digitimes have offered some new details about Cupertino’s long-rumored TV set. The latest rumor suggests that the iTV will be 4K, or Ultra HD. This technology offers two times the horizontal and vertical resolution of the current 1080p standard, and checks in at a whopping 3840 x 2160 pixels. This is four times the resolution of 1080p. The plan calls for LG to begin mass producing these Ultra HD TV panels by the second half of the year. Assuming that this proves successful, Apple could release the first-generation iTV by the end of the year. For much of 2012, the rumors suggested that an Apple television would be released by the end of the year. When that didn’t happen, the rumor mill pointed to a late 2013 release. As usual, we’ll keep you updated.
