Welcome back to another week of Handmade Highlights, where I feature some of the best handcrafted Apple accessories available. Last time I shared some awesome environmentally friendly sleeves for the iPad and the iPad mini, and this week, I’m going to show you something a bit different: Edible, usable app icons!
Several crafty and clever artists on Etsy feature products that use Apple’s popular and ultra well-known app icons. For example, check out these customizable app magnets. They come in a set of eight and feature popular apps icons like Mail, Facebook, Pinterest, Angry Birds, and Instagram.
You can actually customize these with any apps that you want. Simply send the seller a link to the app and in approximately one week, you can decorate your fridge or other magnetic surface with snazzy app icons. The best part? These are affordable at just $20 per eight magnets.
There’s also a felt option from another seller, featuring a handful of hand-sewn app icons for $26. Cute!
Want to impress your friends with your culinary prowess? Does a special iPhone-obsessed loved one have a birthday coming up? If so, these iPhone app cupcake toppers might just be the perfect purchase.
These fantastic looking 3-D icons are actually entirely edible, created from fondant. You can get a set of six for $12. It’s a bit pricy, but you can customize them in any way that you want.
Finally, check out these app-inspired coasters, which feature icons like Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Etsy, Flickr, and Pinterest. They’re made from watercolor art that is transferred to stone, which looks quite fancy! A set of 12 will run you $60, while a set of four costs $25.
