StreamBoard 5.0 is now streaming in the App Store. It arrives over a year after the release of StreamBoard 4.0. And as you might expect from an update that arrives after so long, StreamBoard 5.0 is rather significant. Reengineered from the ground up, StreamBoard, in its 5.0 iteration, boasts a new streamlined interface. It also features a redesigned filter view and improved engine for faster streaming. Released in November 2011, StreamBoard is an app that is just what its name suggests, only it's for Twitter. That is to say, StreamBoard is a board containing a real-time stream of tweets. And what kind of tweets get displayed is all up to you. Just enter a keyword or a tag and StreamBoard will display all tweets that match your selection. Mind the "all," which is sure to result in an overwhelming stream of tweets for the more popular keywords or tags. In that case, just tap the search button to filter the results in real-time. You can choose to hide tweets from users whose follower counts are below a certain number. You can choose to see tweets near you. You can also choose to view tweets that are in English only or that contain links. StreamBoard's filtering functionality also comes with real-time graphics that you can interact with. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, StreamBoard 5.0 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $1.99 download. StreamBoard is great for getting real-time updates on popular topics, including events and TV shows. Indeed, as you can see in the screenshot above, I've used it myself to keep track of what others are saying about one of my favorite TV shows at the moment. And I definitely see myself checking in to StreamBoard the next time I check in to "Bates Motel."
