If you need an interactive storybook for kids, the App Store is definitely the place to go. But developer Merge Mobile is looking to do something a little different with its new title Storybook Maker.
As the name suggests, the app can be used to design, create, and share things like short stories, picture books, photo collages, scrapbooks, and vacation albums.
Here’s a quick video that shows some of the features of the app. Click here if you can’t see it.
I definitely like the fact that each page of the book can have a custom layout to include elements like text, drawings, audio, photos, stickers, and other interactive elements. While some apps only include a small amount of stickers, there are literally thousands of graphic elements to choose from in Storybook Maker.
The completed masterpiece can be shared in three ways. First, it can be published as a PDF so it can be emailed to anyone. It can also be made into a multimedia book or published to the app’s public library to share with other users of Storybook Maker.
Storybook Maker is designed for the iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded in the App Store now for $4.99.
I’m looking forward to trying this app out with my 5-year-old daughter. Even though it looks to be designed for kids a little older, I’m interested to see what she can come up with by herself.
