Marvel's New Subscription Service Opens Up More Than 70 Years Of Comic Books

March 7, 2013
Marvel has unwrapped its Unlimited subscription-based service for both the iPhone and iPad today. For $10 a month or $60 per year, readers can access more than 70 years of Marvel’s comic books featuring popular superheroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. And up to six titles can be saved in the app to read when you don’t have an Internet connection, which would make that long flight a little more enjoyable. You can also browse for issues by characters, creators, comic events, and series. Even if you’re not currently a subscriber, the app will give a preview of every edition in the archive and access to certain full, free issues. The universal Marvel Unlimited app can be downloaded in the App Store now for free. Comic fans take note that the subscription service is different than the existing Marvel Comics app. While that app allows users to purchase and read the latest editions, the subscription service seems to focus on older material. For example, in Marvel Unlimited, the most recent Amazing Spider-Man I could find was from mid-2012. [gallery link="file"]
