Now would definitely be the time to download the Marvel Comics app for iOS if you haven't already. Marvel announced this weekend, for a limited time, that its offering more than 700 first issues from the company’s storied history for free. The offer was made in conjunction with SXSW, happening now in Austin, Texas. It will run through 11 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 12. You can also download the issues from Marvel’s Digital Comic Store. There should be something to satisfy every comic fan. Along with well-known issues featuring the Avengers, X-Men, and Spider-Man, users can read about new heroes like Thanos, Iron First, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel Comics is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded in the App Store now for free. Marvel also recently made news by announcing the Marvel Unlimited Subscription service for both the iPhone and iPad. For $10 per month or $60 per year, users can access more than 70 years of digital comic books from the publisher. Update: I've been unsuccessfully trying to take advantage of the offer for the past two hours in the app. Comic fans seem to have clogged Marvel's servers. Keep trying. Hopefully Marvel will add some servers to help with the issues.
