The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday.

iPhone:

Wave - Voice your photos by LuckyTR (Free, 12.7 MB): Join a social network where photos become true stories. Rather than trying to express the emotion of the moment through text, images are paired with immersive sound or a passionate narration. For example, your photo of the orchestra performance can be accompanied by a clip of the beautiful music and the picture at the lake could include a quick version of the story of how it's your favorite spot. Of course, all of this is about sharing moments with the community where others are free to leave comments as text or voice messages, follow one another's activities, and bookmark their favorites. The app does require a Twitter or Facebook account.

Universal:

Rubbertron by Ryan Evans (Free, 35.0 MB): Experience some nostalgic enjoyment by playing this old school arcade-style shooter. Controlling a small blue square, you'll collect all of the green rectangles to earn points and destroy the enemy shapes to survive. The game features vibrant 8-bit graphics, retro arcade sound effects and music, dual-stick controls, increasing difficulty via a progressive level system, and Game Center integration.

Skyman by Playerthree (Free, 15.7 MB): In this RPG, you take the roll of a daredevil-type entertainer that performs dangerous long distance flights from a high-powered launcher. To earn as much money for your family as possible by the end of the season, which is 20 days, every performance will need to be better than the last. Purchase gliders, jetpacks, and better parachutes to go higher and farther as well as colored smoke to enhance the "wow" factor. For those who prefer a safety net, there's also the possibility to invest in life insurance, a stunt double, and armor. The game features 3-D graphics, replayability to improve your score, and requires a Facebook account to participate on the leaderboard.

Zen Colors HD by Rainbirth SLU (Free, 53.0 MB): Help your mind reach a state of relaxation using this visually enhanced white noise production app. Because everyone has a different preferences, there's a variety of audio options, such as crackling of fire, the roar of a waterfall, a calm melody, and the howl of the wind. The 18 different sounds can be mixed together any way necessary, including a variation in volume for each. As for the visual stimulus, there are 12 soothing themes of four color animated gradients that ripple when touched. In addition, the app offers an automatic shutoff timer, alarm clock, plus the ability to save and recall audio mixes. The timer, nine of the sounds, and four of the visual themes are provided at no cost. All remaining content and features unlocked via a $0.99 in-app purchase.
