New 'iPhone 6' Concept Video Hits The Web, But Don't Get Too Excited

April 15, 2013
Making the rounds currently is a new "iPhone 6" concept video, in which Apple's seventh-generation handset is conceptualized, and shown off in all its idealized glory. But is this concept a realistic possibility for Apple's next smartphone, or just wishful thinking? In the video, the forthcoming handset is shown to feature a thinner design with a larger, almost edge-to-edge display, and the smartphone itself lacks a Home button. Below, we've embedded the video. Though we can't be sure what the seventh-generation iPhone handset will be called (as Ken Segall notes, "If it's worthy of being a new model, it's worthy of having its own number [...]"), it would seem unlikely that the forthcoming smartphone will boast a major design overhaul. Rather, and mirroring previous iPhone generations, the seventh-gen device is expected to be called the "iPhone 5S," and to exhibit an exterior largely similar to its predecessor.

However, that's not to say that the handset won't feature a "selling point," such as fingerprint technology, NFC support or even a "mini" counterpart. After all, the iPhone 3GS brought in an improved camera and voice control, and the iPhone 4S was the flagship model for Siri - Apple's "virtual personal assistant."

Nevertheless, in the above, anticipated scenario, an "iPhone 6" design overhaul is most likely something we're going to have to wait until 2014 for.

Do you like the look of the above handset's size, display, and button-free face? Take another look at the above video, and share your thoughts in the comments.
