Rise And Shine: Sunrise Calendar Updated With Offline Support And Other Features

April 30, 2013
Sunrise Calendar, the slick and "sunny" calendar app with Google Calendar, Facebook, and LinkedIn support, has received another significant update. This update is the second major update to come to Sunrise Calendar, which was released last February. Its first major update, which arrived a month ago, added better LinkedIn integration, support for recurring events, and event notes, among other improvements. For its part, this new major update also adds a number of improvements. Perhaps most important among the new improvements, especially to subway commuters, is offline support for creating events. That means you can now add events to your calendar even without a network connection. Another notable improvement is the ability to add event attendees right from the event title field. Just start typing the name of the contact you want to invite to your event and the app will come up with automatic suggestions. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Sunrise Calendar now also shows dots in the expanded calendar view to indicate which days have events, as in the stock iOS Calendar app. But unlike those in the stock iOS Calendar app, the dots in Sunrise Calendar come in light and dark variants. A light dot means you have fewer than three events for the day, while a dark dot means you have three or more events on that day. The latest update to Sunrise Calendar also brings the following enhancements:
  • Loads pictures from the local address book
  • Ignore invites by swiping on the cell and tapping Ignore
  • New loading animation with the sun
  • Refresh button is now available
  • Don't miss any birthdays (new notification!)
  • Quick phone call option by swiping if phone number available
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, Sunrise Calendar is available in the App Store for free. For more information on Sunrise Calendar, check out Christine's review of the app here on AppAdvice. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
