Spotify Expanding Into Mexico, Hong Kong And Six Other Locations
April 16, 2013
The number of Spotify users worldwide could soon jump considerably. The popular streaming music service is expanding into eight new markets, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The Spotify music service is coming to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Iceland. With the additions, Spotify’s market will jump to 28 nations.
The streaming music space seems to be changing monthly. In addition to Apple, which is expected to launch their iRadio service this June, Google is also expected to join the fray in a few months. Twitter Music is also launching soon, although details on this are largely sketchy at this point.
Add to this other services such as Rdio, the reimagined MOG, Pandora Radio, and many others, and one can see why Spotify continues to expand.
Spotify, which launched in the U.S. in 2011, is available on iOS devices and through desktop and laptop applications. There are currently 24 million Spotify users worldwide.
