Today's Best Apps: Robot Unicorn Attack 2, Draw Something 2, Orbitron And More

April 26, 2013
The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday. iPhone:

Orbitron by Claybrook Software, LLC (Free, 46.0 MB): Here's a version of Pong that's out of this world, literally. The classic arcade game is sent into orbit to create a challenging new experience. Using tilt control, deflect the partially gravity affected ball back at the opponents in hopes that it will miss the return. The game features 3-D graphics, solo and online multiplayer, two AI skill levels, as well as Game Center leaderboards and achievements.

Draw Something 2™ by Zynga Inc. ($2.99, 35.7 MB): It's time to draw more and better somethings with this much improved version of the popular social Pictionary-style game. Speaking of social, one of the big additions is a more social environment with commenting and "liking" within galleries and feeds, plus easy friend following. Expanding and enhancing the playground even further, two additional large changes involve expanding both the dictionary and drawing utensil toolbox. A slightly limited ad-supported version is available.

Universal:

Robot Unicorn Attack 2 by [adult swim] (Free, 47.7 MB): Gallop in colorful glory once again in this exciting sequel of the adorable Adult Swim published side-scrolling endless runner. Using simple dual thumb controls, you'll leap and dash through the clouds and rings to collect new rewards and even work to avoid a powerful giant. The game features 3-D graphics, two daily changing worlds, two team choices, unicorn customizations, new theme song, objectives, unlockable online play, as well as Game Center leaderboards and achievements.

The House of the Dead: Overkill™- The Lost Reels by SEGA ($4.99, 94.8 MB): The undead rail shooter series comes to iOS in an action-packed sequel composed of the original cast. Blast through three areas of mutants with the original cast, including a few with more, shall we say, attractive qualities using just a pistol and your wits. The game also features gory and otherwise mature 3-D graphics, three control schemes, two play modes, as well as a Game Center leaderboard and achievements.

LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes by Warner Bros. ($4.99, 1.2 GB): Fight for justice in this superhero themed Lego-style adventure starring none other than the dark knight and his faithful sidekick Robin. Although, this time there's help from numerous other DC comic heroes, including Justice League favorites such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash to help save the day. However, it's up to you to utilize the many great skills and advanced gadgets to take down the Joker and additional evildoers. The game features 3-D graphics with actual dialogue animations, 80 playable characters, two control schemes, and Game Center achievements.
