Yahoo Updates Mail App For iPad And Releases Brand New Weather App For iPhone

April 18, 2013
It turns out that the "forecast" pertaining to the arrival of Yahoo! Mail for iPad and Yahoo! Weather for iPhone are true. Yahoo has just released a major update to its previously iPhone-only mail app that makes it natively compatible with iPad as well. The new iPad version of Yahoo! Mail features a full-screen reading mode that lets you flick through messages magazine-style. Also, it includes advance options for message actions:
Upon selection, messages are automatically grouped by sender, so you can keep your Inbox more organised. Delete unnecessary social media notifications, star messages from a friend, move messages from family into folders, all in a few taps.
The new Yahoo! Mail update also introduces a new starred folder on both iPhone and iPad, plus support for more languages: Dutch, Greek, Indonesian, Romanian, Swedish, Thai, and Vietnamese. As for the brand new, iPhone-optimized Yahoo! Weather app, it boasts the following key features:
  • Beautiful photos that match your location, time of day, and current weather condition
  • Detailed weather information and forecasts
  • Interactive radar, satellite, heat, and wind maps, plus sunrise/sunset times
The app lets you swipe vertically for detailed weather information and horizontally for favorite locations. It also lets you submit photos for Project Weather on Flickr. Note that Yahoo already powers Apple's stock Weather app on iOS. But the well-known Internet corporation's new weather app is undoubtedly more informative and more visually appealing than the iDevice maker's. Now optimized for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, Yahoo! Mail for iOS is available in the App Store for free. The brand new Yahoo! Weather app for iPhone and iPod touch is available now in the App Store also for free. Could these two new major iOS offerings from Yahoo be the first signs of Yahoo and Apple's reported plans for an expanded partnership? [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
