NOAA Weather Radio Update Offers Improved Push Alerts

Just in time for the start of severe weather season in many parts of the United States, NOAA Weather Radio has just received a major update.
First up, the app now does a better job showing users exactly what location an alert is for.
Also, the app will soon be changing what alerts are pushed out. In the next few weeks, the app will no longer send alerts for non-severe weather events. The only alerts that will pushed out to users include severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and warnings.
There are also new options for sharing severe weather alerts.
Text forecasts have been extended to 10 days and include the date. And with an in-app purchase, users can unlock an enhanced high-definition radar.
NOAA Weather Radio is available in two separate apps. The iPad/iPad mini version, NOAA Weather Radio HD, can be downloaded for $2.99. NOAA Weather Radio, designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, costs $3.99.
While there are a large number of weather apps to wade through in the App Store, NOAA Weather Radio does a nice job of providing a large amount of features. Along with streaming NOAA broadcasts from across the United States, it also provides weather forecasts and other data from the National Weather Service.
