Ode To Joy: Touch Press Launches App Dedicated To Beethoven's 9th Symphony
May 19, 2013
In December last year, Touch Press, the acclaimed developer of The Waste Land, X is for X-Ray, Barefoot World Atlas, Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy, and The Elements, released The Orchestra. The Orchestra features eight famous works of symphonic music, including Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 5." Now, Touch Press has released another music app, this time highlighting a single, singular musical masterpiece: Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
Available in separate editions for iPhone and iPad, Beethoven's 9th Symphony offers four legendary performances of the titular work, with the ability to switch between the recordings on the fly.
The app also features a typeset score, a hypnotic BeatMap, and expert commentary, all synchronized to each of the performances.
And exclusively on the iPad, you can watch over 90 minutes of video interviews with musicians, writers, and conductors talking about Beethoven's final complete symphony.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony for iPad and Beethoven's 9th Symphony for iPhone are both available now for free in the App Store, where it is currently featured as an Editors' Choice.
The free download includes two minutes from the second movement of the symphony. If you want the "full experience," you can unlock it in-app for $13.99 on the iPad or $7.99 on the iPhone.
Note that in-app purchases across the two editions are synced via iCloud.
Completing the in-app purchase on the app's iPad edition will automatically unlock the "full experience" on the iPhone edition. On the other hand, completing the in-app purchase on the iPhone edition will automatically entitle you to a discount for the "full experience" on the iPad edition.
