Strategize To Rule The Skies In Sid Meier's Ace Patrol
May 11, 2013
Having designed a great deal of acclaimed strategy and simulation games, Sid Meier is justly installed in the firmament of the most revered designers in the video game industry. But while most of us, being the mere players that we are, don't stand a chance of joining him there, he is inviting us to at least occupy a different sort of firmament. The firmament of virtual fighter pilots, that is, in his newly released iOS-exclusive game, Sid Meier's Ace Patrol.
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol is the latest iOS-bound collaboration between the eponymous game designer and game publisher 2K Games, following Civilization Revolution and Sid Meier's Pirates.
It's a strategy game set in the skies — the skies above 1900s Europe, to be exact. The game challenges you to assemble the best of the best pilots to serve in the Royal Air Force.
As my colleague Casey noted, "Your squadron will start with a single skilled flyboy or flygirl, but soon will expand to include talented wingmen and women."
