Verizon’s My FiOS App Updated To Bring TV Listings, Remote Control And More

Even though I’m still patiently waiting for an iTV, I’ve been a Verizon FiOS customer for more than a year, and have enjoyed both the Internet and television service.
And one of my favorite parts of FiOS, the iOS app, has just been updated to add a number of new features.
First up, version 3.3.2.8 of My FiOS now boasts integration of numerous TV functions, including channel listings, DVR scheduling, and even a remote control.
The update also brings an enhanced Verizon Support tool, including a Voice Assistant function. Even though I was afraid the voice searching could be a gimmick, I tried it out and was generally pleased with the results. It seemed to do a decent job of understanding my requests and routing me to the correct portion of the app. I wish I could say the same thing about Siri.
Probably the newest feature I’m most excited about is the support for optional push notifications. The app can now inform you for things like when your bill is due, and even more importantly when the cable is out.
My FiOS is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
