Check Out Foursquare's New Update To Check Your Friends In Yourself
June 26, 2013
Foursquare for iOS has a new feature that you definitely have to check out if you want to check your friends in yourself.
The popular location-based social networking app has just received another update. And with it comes a new option to check your friends in, for times when, say, you're out for a drink or a movie with your pals.
Previously, Foursquare allowed you to only mention your friends in a check-in. Now, though, Foursquare enables you to check your friends in, with their permission, of course.
To do so, tap "I'm with…" in the check-in screen and select who among your friends you want to check in. Your friends are then notified that you want to check them in, and they need only accept to complete their own check-ins. If they decline, they are only mentioned, as before, in your check-in.
The new update also includes new features in the app's Explore tab, which have been getting various improvements since Foursquare begun focusing on exploration with its 5.0 update a year ago.
With the new filters in the Explore tab …
… you can do searches to suit your every need. Looking for a cheap, friend-approved lunch spot that you haven't tried yet? Or maybe you want to sort your coffee recommendations by distance. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen, then filter by options like "price," "specials," "distance," "haven't been," or "open now" to find the perfect place. The new version of Foursquare is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
