Multitasking Gets A Big Upgrade In iOS 7

June 10, 2013
Multitasking is getting a huge makeover in iOS 7. While introducing the new operating system today at the WWDC keynote, Apple showed how multitasking will work. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, announced that all apps will finally be able to multitask in iOS 7. Previously, only select apps could use the feature. Federighi said that iOS 7 will constantly monitor how the user accesses apps. For example, if you’re a big Facebook user, iOS 7 will automatically run the app in the background so your news feed will be fresh when it's opened. With an eye on preserving battery life, multitasking will adjust to network conditions and grab app updates all at once. Double-clicking on the home button will show all running apps. Simply swipe to see what apps are running.
