Today's Best Apps: Lazybones And Flock: Do More With Friends

June 23, 2013
The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday. Remember: Even though in-app purchases typically require your iTunes Store password for processing, you can further prevent them and other unauthorized actions by enabling local restrictions using the passcode locked iOS parental controls.

Lazybones by iKabans Inc. ($0.99, 26.4 MB): Easily keep track of the things that you need to get done using this clean, simple, and stylish to-do app. The only button is located at the bottom-right for voice-based entry control, otherwise, all else happens via single finger gestures. You drag the list down for text-entry of a task, swipe rightward on a task to delete, tap and hold to enable list rearranging, and double tap on tasks to add it to the Calendar app. As a visual bonus, date and time selection also features an appropriate sun position mimicking change of the colored background gradient according to the chosen time. Last but certainly not least, the app includes iCloud integration, which allows synchronizing the to-do list among iDevices, if desired.

Flock: Do More With Friends by Mikhail Burshteyn (Free, 8.5 MB): This social-based calendar app makes it easier than ever to invite friends to activities that you want to do. For example, you may be feeling like letting loose and wondering if anyone has a party planned or perhaps you've been interested in seeing the new Star Trek movie but don't want to go alone. So, how does it work? You post a flock, i.e., a desired idea such as "I want to go to the Killswitch Engage concert tonight at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe," then wait and discover if anyone is up for it. All of your friends are allowed to comment, "like," invite others, see who is going, and agree to attend. For easy setup, the app requires connection with your Facebook account.
