Today's Best Apps: Morning And Eventiles

June 17, 2013
The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday. Remember: Even though in-app purchases typically require your iTunes Store password for processing, you can further prevent them and other unauthorized actions by enabling local restrictions using the passcode locked iOS parental controls.

Eventiles by Eventiles, Inc. (Free, 2.4 MB): This photo-centric social app and network make it easy and fun to share great moments frozen in time. So, what’s different from other choices? The app automatically groups photos into collage-style albums based on captured day and time as well as location. Providing another helping hand, simple titles are entered automatically, such as "Afternoon in Phoenix" or "That's Philadelphia," but a few great customization options are available to make things perfectly personal. In addition to changing the title, you may add a description, try a random new layout, apply one of eight filter effects, delete or merge albums, and deselect chosen photos or select more photos, if desired. As for the social aspect, discover what others are up to in the Friends feed, plus share your own eventiles through Twitter and Facebook or privately via an email invitation. Beautifully presented, the message contains a preview poster of the eventile, which is linked to an interactive page with options to see photos in fullscreen, comment, and more. Registration of a free account is required to share, comment, "like" eventiles, however, management of your own content and viewing are open to guests.

Morning — Weather, To-Do, News, and more by Tamper ($2.99, 4.6 MB): Increase productivity by starting each and every day with this dashboard-style task management app. It's your choice as to what's important. For each of the six panels, two large and four smaller, there's the choice displaying the date and time, weather, stocks, news, to-dos via the Reminders or Calendar app, event countdown timer, and even the commute time based on traffic information. Reorganizing is as simple as drag-and-drop to move and a couple of taps to select a different panel type. In addition, certain panels support multiple items, such as stocks, that are quickly browsed using left and right swipes. The app features a simplistically attractive flat user interface with fold out toolbar, and six color theme choices.
