Check Out What's Now Playing With nwplyng's Improved Music Discovery Features
July 4, 2013
The simple app that lets you easily share and discover what's now playing has just received another significant update. I am, of course, talking about nwplyng.
As reviewed by Christine here on AppAdvice, nwplyng is "a slick way to share your currently playing music with friends. What sets it apart from other apps is the gamification of it, which is similar to that of Foursquare and location check-ins."
With the app, you can easily share a song by tapping the #nwplyng button.
You can do a simple search for a song you want to share. Alternatively, you can use the app's integrated song tagging software to instantly identify what's playing on your device or nearby.
The app's gamification factor comes into play as you unlock records, manage artists, and level up by sharing your favorite songs.
The app also lets you follow your friends and discover new music by seeing what they're listening to.
And with the new version of nwplyng, you can now take advantage of a new way to discover music: #hashtags. In the app's Explore section, you can now search for new music using hashtags, as well as find users with music taste that's similar to yours.
The new version of nwplyng also adds support for mentions, letting you mention other users in your shares and comments.
The newly updated nwplyng is available in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.
