Gameloft Teases Official Game Based On Marvel's 'Thor: The Dark World'
July 23, 2013
This fall, Gameloft is set to release the official game of "Thor: The Dark World," which goes by the rather imaginative title of Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game.
The popular game developer and publisher made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con International last Saturday. And earlier today, Gameloft posted a follow-up announcement on its official blog:
“Thor: The Dark World – The Official Game will allow fans of the franchise to play as one of Marvel’s most iconic Super Heroes in a game of epic scope and beauty.” said Javon Frazier, VP Games Marketing at Marvel. “With this new game, we are further expanding the successful relationship between Marvel and Gameloft.”Indeed, Gameloft has been a perennial partner of Marvel in developing tie-in games for the latter's superhero movies, including "Iron Man 3" and "The Amazing Spider-Man." In its follow-up announcement, Gameloft debuted the above teaser trailer for Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game that features some rather impressive gameplay footage. The upcoming game looks to be a hack-and-slash game adaptation of "Thor: The Dark World," which sees the titular thunder god battling to save the Nine Realms. The sequel to 2011's "Thor," "Thor: The Dark World" stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, and Anthony Hopkins. It's scheduled to be released on Nov. 8, 2013. Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game is set to be launched around that date presumably as a free-to-play game on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
