KakaoTalk Messenger Updated With Emoticon Enhancements, New Settings And More
July 24, 2013
KakaoTalk Messenger, the popular messaging app developed by Seoul-based Kakao Corp. as a rival to the likes of WhatsApp and Line, has just received another major update.
For the most part, the latest update to KakaoTalk is focused on emoticons, those amusing animated characters that can convey emotions for when text alone isn't enough.
The update introduces a new Favorites section that gives you quick access to your most frequently used emoticons. You can add an emoticon to Favorites by tapping the star icon in the emoticon preview box after selecting an emoticon.
The update also adds a new Settings menu in the emoticon tab, enabling you to reorder your emoticons right from the tab.
Beyond emoticons, the new KakaoTalk update modifies the UI within the chatroom so that frequently used settings are now instantly accessible by tapping the button at the top-right corner.
In addition, it adds a Send Optimized Image setting in the main Settings section. If enabled, this setting optimizes the quality of sent images in accordance with the current network connection conditions.
Also including bug fixes on iOS 7, the new version of KakaoTalk Messenger is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later.
