No iPad mini With Retina Display Until 2014

July 12, 2013
We’ve heard another in a series of rumors that Apple won’t release an iPad mini with a Retina display until 2014. The latest rumor comes from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, which cites display panel shortages as the reason for the delay. The report also suggests that Apple will release both Retina and non-Retina versions of the iPad mini 2. However, they don’t mention when this might happen. A Retina display second-generation iPad mini was long expected to arrive in time for this year’s important holiday season. However, those plans seem to have shifted in recent weeks. In June, NPD DisplaySearch noted that a non-Retina display iPad mini 2 would be released this fall. This would be followed in early 2014 by the release of a Retina display model. Earlier this month, DigiTimes also reported that a Retina display iPad mini would be delayed.
