For the first time ever, popular game Cut the Rope is now available to download for free in the App Store. The title will only be free for seven days since it was named by Apple as the App of the Week.
The game, from developer ZeptoLab, was originally introduced in 2010 and features cute and cuddly monster Om Nom. Gamers are tasked with cutting a series of ropes to feed the little guy his favorite food – candy.
While the physics-based puzzler certainly looks easy, later levels introduce obstacles like spiders, bubbles, and portals to add a level of difficulty. Thanks to updates, the game now has 375 levels in 15 different boxes.
In July, the title received its latest update that introduced 25 new “cheesy” levels and a new friend for Om Nom – the mouse.
The game has been downloaded more than 300 million times and has spawned two sequels, Cut the Rope: Experiments and Cut the Rope: Time Travel. The latter title was released in the App Store in April and sees the cuddly monster traveling back in time to meet his candy-loving ancestors.
There are two separate versions of the app that users can now download for free. Cut the Rope is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch while Cut the Rope HD is for the iPad/iPad mini.
