Original Tapatalk App For iOS Goes Free And Goes 2.0 With Revamped User Interface
August 18, 2013
The original Tapatalk app for iOS has just been updated, and so has its price.
Previously available for $2.99, Tapatalk has just undergone a total price drop. That's right: Tapatalk is now a free app.
Coinciding with its going free is the release of its 2.0 update, effectively putting it on a par with Tapatalk 2.
The original Tapatalk was released way back in June 2011. But in January 2013, Tapatalk 2 was released as a separate app, featuring a redesigned interface and additional functionality.
Now, the original Tapatalk app itself has gone 2.0, with an interface and functionality similar to those of Tapatalk 2.
You might be wondering what the difference between the two apps is. Well, at present, it appears that the main difference lies in their pricing.
Tapatalk 2 remains a paid app costing $3.99 to download sans in-app purchases. The newly updated Tapatalk, on the other hand, is free to download, but it offers a number of in-app purchases for unlocking additional features.
Regarding in-app purchases, Tapatalk developer Quoord notes:
For existing in-app purchase customers, we will soon roll out the add-on in next few weeks, meanwhile if you do not wish to lose any add-on you have previously purchased, sit back and wait for the another round of update. The new version of Tapatalk is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. Tapatalk 2 received its last major update about a month ago. That update added WordPress integration, Dropbox photo upload support, and other enhancements. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
