Simple Generative Music App Poly Gains Universal Support For iPhone And iPod touch

August 25, 2013
Late last month, Caelestis creator James Milton released another sample-based generative music app in the form of Poly. Now, Poly has already been updated to version 2.0 with universal support. Like Caelestis, Poly lets you easily create sample-based music using a simple interface. But unlike Caelestis, which creates sounds with bouncing balls within three shapes, Poly creates poly-rhythms with stationary nodes within a circular area. The closer a node is to the middle, the faster its corresponding sample repeats. As mentioned, Poly has just gained universal support through its 2.0 update. Specifically, it has gained iPhone and iPod touch compatibility, as it was initially optimized for iPad and iPad mini only. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Given the smaller screen space, Poly for iPhone and iPod touch features icons on the left and right sides of the screen that can be swiped up and down to reveal new menus. In addition to iPhone and iPod touch support, Poly 2.0 delivers bug fixes for issues encountered when switching between apps while connected to Audiobus and when loading and clearing patterns. Poly 2.0 is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
