The Oddly Named Vaavud Wind Meter Actually Looks Like A Useful Accessory

August 14, 2013
Even though it has an odd name, the Vaavud really appears to be a useful accessory for any iOS device. The wireless wind meter, which got its start as a Kickstarter project, is now available to purchase from Bite My Apple’s site. Using absolutely no electronics, the Vaavud plugs into the headphone jack and uses a device’s built-in magnetic field sensor to take wind speed readings. Working in tandem with the free Vaavud Wind Meter app available to download in the App Store, users can see the current, average, and maximum wind speed. Wind speed measurements can also be shared with friends. Tested and calibrated in a professional wind tunnel at the Technical University of Denmark, the device is designed to be resistant to the elements. You can snag the Vaavud for $44.99 now at Bite My Apple. It is compatible with all iOS devices, including the iPhone and iPad.
