Square has just updated its signature Register app with a number of additions and improvements for both iPhone and iPad users.
In version 3.2 of the app, all users can now record and track different kinds of payments, including checks and gift cards.
Two new features of the app are specifically for the iPad version. Users can now reconcile their cash drawers quickly and easily with cash management. Finally, users can connect a wireless Bluetooth SM-S220i printer from Star to print receipts for customers.
Square Register is a universal app designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
The Square credit card reader, which works in tandem with the app, retails for $9.95 and can be purchased at a number of retailers, including Apple’s online store. Square reimburses the purchase price through a $10 redemption code included in each package.
A reader can also be requested for free on Square's site.
And early last month, Apple Retail Stores began selling the Square Stand. Working with the Square Register app, the register features an integrated credit card reader. It also connects to other point-of-sale accessories like a cash drawer and barcode scanner.
Retailing for $299, the stand only works with the iPad 2 and iPad 3 because of the 30-pin connector. A Lightning-compatible version will be released sometime later this year.
