The WSJ Confirms That Two New iPhone Models Are Coming 'As Soon As Next Month'
August 19, 2013
It’s been a busy day for the folks at The Wall Street Journal. Just hours after its AllThingsD site confirmed that Apple would release a gold colored high-end iPhone next month, a new report about Apple's future plans has surfaced.
This one notes that Apple has told Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. to begin shipping two new iPhones in early September. As we've heard many times before, these models are likely to be called the “iPhone 5S” and “iPhone 5C.”
According to the report:
The shipping plans suggest that two new iPhone models could be launched as soon as next month, pointing to a strategy shift as Apple attempts to regain its momentum in the smartphone market. The company hasn't previously announced different iPhone models around the same time.Previously, AllThingsD reported that Apple would announce its new iPhones on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Around that time, Apple is expected to release iOS 7 to the public. Earlier today, it was noted that the iPhone 4S, not the iPhone 5C, would become Apple’s low-cost handset model. As a result, the iPhone 5C is expected to sell for between $300-$400 and become Apple's new mid-priced model. As usual, we'll keep you updated.
