Today's Best Apps: RunSmarter And Nook Video
RunSmarter by Matthew Griswold (Free, 732.6 KB): This fitness-based speed-focused tracking app is a simple tool to help runners and cyclists monitor their performance. Front and center, so to speak, the main panel displays distance, duration, two speedometers, plus your averages and top accomplishments. The two gauges include "Pace," displayed the common short distance unit of miles or kilometers per minute, and "Speed," the traditional rate measurement of miles or kilometers per hour. As a bonus, the app also contains a live route map, history with workout breakdown, and a nifty function called AutoStop. AutoStop is a finish location tagging instrument that automatically ends or closes the workout session so you won't lower statistics when forgetting to manually stop recording.
Universal:NOOK Video by Barnes & Noble (Free, 4.5 MB): If you own a Nook or just utilize Barnes & Noble's digital service for entertainment, there's now even more to enjoy as other devices join the mix. Even though the content selection in both standard and high-definition quality is similar to the iTunes Store, etc, Nook Video has a couple of features that do set it apart. Foremost, choose between storage space saving streaming mode when at home, hotels, and so on or the download option for convenient offline viewing while on-the-go, whether passing the time during a long flight or keeping the kids occupied in the car. Next, because of the availability on multiple platforms and progress synchronization, you can start a show or movie on one device, such as your iPad, then finish it on another, such as a TV. The app does require that you have a Nook account already setup.
