Today's Best Apps: Wordstop And Cloud Spin
Wordstop - The anti word game! by Word Play Limited ($0.99, 18.1 MB): Experience a fresh competition against a friend or stranger with this uniquely difficult turn-based word game. Similar to competing titles, the goal of Wordstop does involve building words. However, the objective isn't actually to finish them. In fact, completing words results in a loss, fail, etc. So, it's like this. Both players alternate selecting letters, which can be placed before or after the letter or letters currently chosen. For example, you begin by picking an "S." Your opponent follows with an "A." Therefore, you respond by placing an "N," creating "SAN" thus far. If the opposer enters a "D," the match is over and you win. However, maybe the competitor selects a "C" instead. WIth no valid word yet, the game continues. As a final note, because the strategy involves forcing the opponent into a guaranteed losing move, e.g. Chess or Checkers, intentionally invalid options are not allowed, such as putting a "Q" before "SAN" in the earlier example, and penalized by awarding the other person the win. The game features colorful 2.5-D graphics, multiple match support with Push notifications, handy "Word Wizard" to show valid possible completions, bomb power-up to clear letter tiles, and Facebook integration. An ad-supported version is available.
