Twitter Update Brings Login Verification, Photo Galleries

August 6, 2013
Twitter has just recently introduced a substantial update to its official app for iOS devices. The biggest improvement in version 5.9 of the app is easily login verification that doesn’t require a phone number. As Twitter explained in a blog post, all of the verification procedures are handled through push messaging and in-app approvals. Here’s how to turn on the feature:
  • From the Me tab in the Twitter application, open Settings and then tap Security (Android users: you’ll need to tap your name before you can select Security)
  • Turn on Login verification
  • Store the generated backup code in a safe place. You will need to use this code if you need to access your account when you don’t have your phone.
  • After you enroll in login verification, you’ll use the Twitter application to approve requests each time you sign in to twitter.com with your username and password.
  • Other improvements in the update include a photo gallery view in search results and on a user’s profile page. Finally, the new version also contains several improvements to the list function. Users can create new lists and edit existing ones directly from the app. And along with managing titles and descriptions of the list, members can also be added or removed. Twitter is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
