Is Apple Prepping Smarter Covers For The iPad 5?
September 26, 2013
Apple could soon launch new Smart Covers that would arrive alongside the still to be announced iPad 5. As shown in the attached video from Unbox Therapy, the new covers are only slightly different than the previous model.
Take a look:
As you can see, the iPad 5 Smart Covers come in gray, black, red, pink, orange, blue, white, and green. As with the previous version, the cover can be folded behind the iPad to act as a stand. However, instead of having four sections, the new covers have three. This is the same number of sections in the Smart Cover line for the current iPad mini.
I really don't care about the number of folds on the iPad Smart Cover, as long as the tablet still stands up when using the cover. Instead, I would like to see more functionality announced as it relates to the magnets inside of the covers.
Currently, the magnets only provide two official purposes. These include attaching the cover to the iPad, as well as turning the screen on each time the accessory is removed from the display. Certainly Apple can dream up some other functions for the covers, no?
Apple is likely to announce the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 in October. As usual, we'll keep you updated.
