Today's Best Apps: Bravura, Sky Live And Audiophile

September 21, 2013
The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday. Remember: Even though in-app purchases typically require your iTunes Store password for processing, you can further prevent them and other unauthorized actions by enabling local restrictions using the passcode locked iOS parental controls iPhone:

Sky Live - Stargazing Forecast by Vito Technology Inc. (Free, 15.9 MB): Star Walk's handy stargazing relevant weather forecast feature gets packed into an elegant standalone app with the perfect set of data. Identical to Yahoo! Weather, the simplistic user interface showcases the sky visibility percentage using a large, thin font atop a randomly chosen user submitted photo, and hides the remaining details below. Also the same as YW, just swipe upward to scroll through minimalist tables of data, in this case viewable constellations, stars, and planets, some of which include rise and fall times for convenience, plus moon visibility and light pollution percentages.

Audiophile by Musicsoft Arts (Free, 17.2 MB): As the name clearly implies, this music player is for anyone that’s picky about the quality of audio. In addition to a decibel output display, full music library browser and playlist manager, the app includes three enhancement toolkits for precise sound tuning and improvement. The first is a simplified equalizer setup with low, mid, and high level adjustments. A secondary EQ, which strongly utilizes MaxxAudio technology, boosts the frequencies and volume beyond the audio file’s encoding, plus offers an automatic leveler and booster similar to Apple’s Sound Check feature. For the third choice, you can optimize the output based on the speakers, whether headphones, self-powered external units, or the iDevice's own audio system. The Maxx features can be tested using a limited duration demo mode, and are available to permanently unlock for $0.99 (currently on sale) via in-app purchase.

Universal:

Bravura - Quest Rush by Playground Publishing B.V. ($1.99, 82.3 MB): This action-packed side-scrolling RPG will test your reflexes in exciting short bursts. As a sword swinging hero, you will be the one destroy the demonic creatures that now threaten the kingdom and free those who've been captured. The journey will require traveling far across the land, however, each "rolling" level is fast and furious, providing a wealth of difficulty with only two minutes worth of commitment. In addition, along the way you'll enlist new heroes, such as the talented arrow shooting Selva. The game features hand-drawn 2.5-D graphics, energizing soundtrack, 60 levels spanning four stages, plus single finger touch and swipe control.
