Using the Apple Store app, customers can now see the availability of both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c at their nearest retail store.
After opening up the app, select the Purchase an iPhone page. After adding a handset to your cart, select “Check Availability” to see whether local and favorite Apple Stores have the selected iPhone in stock.
Phones ordered via the app can be picked up at the Apple Store on the same day.
At least in the Dallas area, there seems to be some sporadic space gray models of the iPhone 5s available at most stores. Not surprisingly, there seems to be little or no available stock of either the silver or gold version.
On the flip side, there seems to be more than enough of every color and model of the iPhone 5c available in my area.
If you don’t have the app handy, the same information is also available on Apple’s online site.
Currently, for online orders, all versions of the iPhone 5s are listed as shipping in October.
The Apple Store App is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
Earlier today, Apple announced that it sold a combined 9 million handsets over the launch weekend. Apple's stock soared on the news.
